Another Edition of Friday Fragments

Friday Fragments?
Thanks to Mrs.4444, I have a topic for Fridays. If you are interested in having at least one day where you know what you are going to post, join in. It's as simple as that. And if you don't feel like heading over there, my newest post is up here.

***Owen fell last evening and hit the wall, thrusting his bottom teeth through his lip. Gross. Blood everywhere. Then this morning he tripped over a piece of fluff on the floor and did it again. More blood (I just got done telling Mr. Lady that my kids have no genetic trait of mine, but I lied; Owen is clumsy like me. Lucky kid.), more tears, but also this follows right along the lines of summer coming. Someone always gets hurt this time of year. Owen looks like he went three rounds with Evander Holyfield (who, incidentally, is one hot black man).

***For the record, Mother's Day sucks. It might be better this year because the kids are older, but I don't know. It is a sad day for me. Mostly I just hold my breath and keep busy and wait for it to be over. At least I ended up having an excellent birthday; that helps a lot.

***I see a lot of school buses on my way to work. Better than half of the drivers I have seen this week have been talking on their cell phones while driving, regardless of the fact that it is against policy as well as being terrible dangerous. The School District office is getting weary of me calling to complain. Ask me if I give a shit. Makes me glad that mine are very rarely on a bus now that we have moved.

***When we were at Costco a couple of weeks ago, they were demonstrating some new meatball product thing. I had to walk all through the store with my gag reflex rebelling because meatballs smell like meatloaf which is my personal most horrible food ever. I wonder if next time we go, I can call ahead and make sure they aren't cooking those things that day?

***There is a dinner get-together thing for the women in AA tonight. They get together once a month before the business meeting and just have a social time. I have never gone, and don't plan on going tonight. I really don't like to be in unfamiliar situation like that with people I don't know well. My goal is to to be brave enough by next month to go. Change is good, right?

***My dad is for sure bringing the PC tomorrow morning, but do you think the phone company got their shit together and hooked up the DSL? Of course not. So the computer is going to be sitting on the table taunting me all weekend long. Isn't that just the way it is sometimes?

***Amber is late for work this morning and it makes us all nervous because she hasn't called. Not because she is flaky or anything like that, but because of the health issues with her baby. I hope everything is okay and they just slept in or are having a hard time getting going or just got a flat tire. This is the hard thing about loving people; you worry.
Seems like enough fragments for this day. I hope everyone has a great weekend, especially my wonderful mom friends out there. And oh, I changed my mind about the day sucking, because I think I am going to try to make some wontons with my new press and spend the day in the kitchen. And THAT will be fun. I hope it is nice enough that I can send the kids to the park!

Secretly, and deeply, I believe most mothers would love to spend Mother's Day somewhere away, in a hotel where they wash your towels and sheets for you, and the possibility of a room service breakfast. A very late one. Happy Mother's Day, Ms. Kori.

The idea of a new computer sitting around taunting me would drive me batshit crazy. But it is cool that you'll finally have one at home. As long as the kids don't bogart it.

When my oldest sister was 2 or 3, I dropped her while helping her out of our big van, and she hit her face on the step, putting her lower teeth through her lip. I feel for Owen.

I hear you about the bus drivers. The way some of them drive around here makes me not want to put the kids on the bus when they get older. It's ridiculous.

Poor Owen. But the tripping over a piece of fluff? Owen, dude, what's up with that? But tell him the little scar he might have on his bottom lip will make him look dangerous and mysterious. In about 16 years, the girls will love it.

Girl! You haven't tasted MY meatloaf. It's delish. It might have something to do with all the ketchup and brown sugar that it's baked in.

Poor Owen! Hope he avoids the fuzz the rest of the weekend... :)

And I do hope you have a happy mother's day. I've got no expectations myself - keeping busy seems to be the way to go.

Hey there. Sorry it's taken me so long to make the rounds today; looks like you've been holding your own, though :) Glad you got your PC; may your Mothers Day gift me the DSL magically firing up! :) Sorry about Owen's lip! I've been there. No stitches, though?

Sadly I am the second most clumsiest person in my family. As I type this I am attempting not to use my right index finger becuase I cut it once again.

Hope you have a great weekend and can get out to the park.

I'm so laughing at the meat balls thing. I love meat loaf---but I feel the same way about liver.

Bus drivers on cell phones...I say call & complain until they do something about it. Thank God my kids don't ride the bus.
I don't enjoy awkward social situations either, but sometimes they can be unexpectedly fun.
Enjoyed your Friday Fragments, and here's hoping your mother's day turns about better than you expect :)
